Recently, Champs Downtown competed in 5th Year’s Barstool Best Bar competition. Singer, songwriter, and actor, Joe Jonas expressed his love for the bar on March 23rd in a tweet that read, “I had my 21st at Champs. This place rules. Obvious winner right here.”
On April 5th, Joe Jonas along with his brothers, Nick and Kevin, surprised Nittany nation with a performance at Champs. The Jonas Brothers debuted the first live performance for their new song, “Cool,” in State College. They bought drinks for everyone while rocking out with Penn State football coach, James Franklin. Their wives, Danielle Jonas, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Sophie Turner accompanied them for a night full of dancing.
The only connection the brothers had to Penn State was their previous performance at Bryce Jordan Center and the fact that their manager, Phil McIntyre, is from State College. In August of 2010, McIntyre took the brothers to Champs after a show in Hershey for Joe’s 21st birthday. In 2017, Nick and Joe Jonas were seen at the 2017 Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. They were rooting for Penn State against Southern California.
Unfortunately, on April 11th, Penn State lost the best bar vote to East Carolina University’s local bar, Sup Dogs. The Jonas Brothers aren’t mad, just disappointed. ECU has the help of many, preferably enemies of Penn State. In the previous voting round, ECU secured a little over 6,000 votes, however, they somehow secured over 21,000 in the championship round.
“WE ARE PENN STATE,” the Jonas Brothers posted on their Twitter page after the surprise performance. “Thanks for letting us stop by and play a few songs tonight!”
