My name is Zachary Robert Orndorff. I enjoy writing, and talking, which is why I am here, in Journalism. But that’s not the only reason. I watch sports all the time, and I have many idols. All my life I’ve wanted to be there in person with all the football and basketball players I love. One of the only ways I could do that is being a journalist--out there on the floor asking them questions. And I love being in front of cameras, for some reason.  One of my idols was Stuart Scott, and someday hopefully I could become like him through Journalism.

Students flood the Penn State blue band IM field on April 26, 2019, for Movin On. “I’m sad I missed Bryce Vine play, but Grouplove was great and I had a lot of fun,” Clarre Porter, sophomore on the left, said. Hundreds of people aged 18 and up enjoyed the student-run concert with Grouplove and A$AP Ferg.

Chris Hort one of the dominant seniors on the team led State High to beat Mechanicsburg 17-3. Sophomore Conrad Moore said, “I’m excited for this season, I feel like our seniors are already starting to play really well,” Moore said.

State High Varsity Baseball lost to Red Land 8-2 in the season opener. “We fought hard the whole game against a strong team, and I’m happy with how we competed,” Jake Cooper, sophomore, said. The team overall thought they started off the season well.

The State College Area School Board approved the purchase of this traffic light at a school board meeting. State High Junior Brennan Dorefice said, “In my opinion I feel the traffic lights are really going to be useful and that the purchase was worth it.” As young drivers and high schoolers cross the street, the traffic light will not only make this daily transition more efficient, but safer.

Travis Scott visits the Bryce Jordan Center on February 26, 2019. “Many people got pictures in front of the Travis head, and it just added more excitement to be here,” said Carson Franks, Sophomore. Travis Scott didn’t entertain the audience just from the thirty songs he performed, but also from the roller coaster and exciting props he brought with him.

The participants of the State College Girls’ Basketball 5k fundraiser waits at the finish line for the rest of the runners. Mason Risha, freshman, elaborated about the organization of the race. “It was very well organized… It’s just a great way to raise money for the girls’ basketball program,” said Risha. All the players, coaches, and participants loved the new fundraiser for the girls’ basketball team.
