My name is Marty and I am an 11th grader at State High. I really enjoy watching, and keeping statistics for sports and I think this class provides an opportunity for my work to reach places outside of a notebook. Sports are definitely a passion of mine, and no doubt an industry that I would love to work in. I am a huge fan of all Penn State and Philadelphia sports teams, and broadcasting live play-by-play for the Phillies has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. My Dad works in the College of Communications at PSU, and helps students reach goals similar to mine every day. We are all very passionate sports fans in my family, and despite the fact that our teams have struggled more than succeeded in the past couple of years, we stay true and believe that one day all of our teams will take home some ‘ships. Besides sports and journalism, I like to think I’m a pretty good student, and have set my sights on straight A’s this year. I also enjoy music, and no matter what I’m working on, you can always find me with an earbud in. I am currently involved with DECA as well, and hopefully will be taking my second consecutive trip to states in February of 2018. I am a hard-worker, and my goal by the end of this class is to have learned not only how to be a better writer, but also how to properly do the things I love most.
