Social Media seems to have a big impact on Starbucks and the different drinks. Every time a drink is influenced Starbucks is likely to get a commission off of it. There seems to be a pattern with cool and unique drinks at Starbucks going viral. The Unicorn Frappuccino in 2017, the Pink Drink in 2017, and all the different refreshers also in 2017. Recently, Starbucks released the new Berry Starbucks Refreshers, which are going viral on TikTok, made with coconut milk, lemonade, or green tea.
Sophomore Paige Adams said, “I tried one with lemonade and one without. I liked the one with the lemonade a lot better.”
Sophomore Esmee Sherrill also talks about the new drink, and said, “It was kind of weird, but I think it’s because I got the one with coconut milk in it.” Sherril describes the drink as the Pink Drink but if it was blue raspberry. “Yes. [I would get the drink again] but without the coconut milk.”
Adams talks about the flavor of the drink and said, “The drink is very plain, and the little balls in it make it alot better.”
“The popping bubbles are just like the ones you would get from Sweet Frog,” Adams said. Adams describes the rest of the drink as watered-down blue raspberry lemonade from a fair.
Sophomore Lily Friberg agreed and said, “I feel like it wasn’t that flavorful.” Friberg also said that if the drink was more tasteful and a little bit more fruity it would be better.
This new drink should just be a summer thing because of its bright colors, and summery taste. Sherril said, “It’s very summery, and I feel like it wouldn’t make sense in the winter. It’s also kind of a weird flavor.”
Starbucks also decided to spice things up on some of their drinks. They have spicy dragon fruit, spiced pineapple, and spicy strawberry. Lots of people think that the drink is a weird concept. Why make something sweet into something spicy?
Sherril was thinking about trying the new spicy drinks. She said, “I was thinking about trying them but got too scared. I didn’t want to waste my money.” She also said, “ I think there is a very interesting idea, but also I think they’re kind of weird.”
Another big trend for Starbucks drinks right now is lavender-flavoring. I’ve tried it, and it’s my new favorite thing to get in my drink. It’s very sweet, so I would not recommend it if you don’t like sweet things. Friberg agrees and says, “ It’s the best thing I ever had in my life, it’s so good.”
Now there are so many new drinks coming out, and I recommend getting out of your comfort zone and trying something new. You never know it might end up being your new go-to order.
