Mental Health Matters Club partners with the Jana Marie Foundation in honor of National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.

In honor of National Suicide Prevention Awareness Week, State High’s Mental Health Matters Club, staff, and volunteers were able to get a chance to connect and engage with students at State High. “One of the most complex parts about talking about mental health is the stigma around it – however, talking about it is how we help each other know that we are not alone,” Elisabeth James, High School Mental Health Clinician, said.

Students buzz past the Roar Store on their way to the last lunch period of the day. The store is open during lunches on a regular basis, and occasionally open after school during certain events. In between lunch periods the store shuts down for cleaning, ensuring a safe and clean experience for the students of the following lunch.

Junior Elliot Mathews sings “Learning to Fly” by Tom Petty. Mathews says his favorite song in the concert was "Change in the House of Flies" by Def Jams. He looked forward to the New York Song (“New York, I Love You" by LCD Soundsystem), commenting, “I don't know if everyone's going to like it, but I like it.”
