World Series Wraps Up
November 13, 2017
During the past month the Houston Astros won their first World Series championship. They defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in seven games, winning the final game by a score of 6-1.
The Astros were led in Game 7 by George Springer, who tallied two hits, scored two runs, and knocked in two more. Charlie Morton recorded the save for the Astros while working 4 innings and only allowing one run. Marwin Gonzalez also had a pair of hits for Houston.
The Dodgers had no player who recorded multiple hits, and starting pitcher Yu Darvish struggled, allowing 4 earned runs on 3 hits in just 1 ⅔ innings. Dodger pitching did not allow another earned run after Darvish exited.
This game was a classic, and capped off one of the most thrilling World Series of all time. Baseball fan and State High student Mason Risha described the game as “very competitive” and said that it was “a great win for the Houston Astros.”
This was a World Series to remember, and many baseball fans will be telling stories about it for many years to come.
