Can I Get a Q-U-A-L-I….: State Cheer Qualifications
December 20, 2017
On Saturday and Friday, December 8th and 9th, State High Cheerleading set out to Altoona to participate in the High School State Cheer Qualifications. These qualifications determined whether or not State High Cheer will go to the State Championships on January 19th and 20th in Hershey, PA. Kelsey Chandler, a senior and a co-cheer captain this year said, “States was the Cheer team’s goal this year. State High has not been to States in 5 years, so this is a huge accomplishment for us along with going to Nationals this year.” State High Cheer Team, because of their 4th place ranking, will be able to attend State Championships and then Nationals in Florida. In order to prepare for the State Championship Cheer Team will, “continue to work on our tumbling and stunts. We will also work on making them more difficult. Being in the gym and making our routine even better than it currently is will help us at both states and nationals,” according to co-cheer captain Makenna Bailey. Overall, State High Cheer considers this past event very successful and are looking forward to training and performing at Nationals.
