The State College girl’s varsity lacrosse team has had a 13-3 overall record this 2019 regular season. As a team, they’re ranked 36th in the state and 562nd in the nation. Nationally, their goals per game, assists per game, and shots on goal exceed those of the national average. Senior, Sally Stahl has been a leader on the team this year in draw controls, ground balls, goals, and caused turnovers. “I am optimistic about how far our team can go in this years post season. Since it’s my senior year, I hope that we can make it further than we have before,” said Stahl. The team’s postseason begins May 16th with a district game against Hazelton Academy of District 2. If the girls win, the next game (district final) will be on May 21st. The first round of PIAA playoffs will be May 28th. Quarterfinals are June 1st, Semifinals are June 4th and Finals are June 8th. Senior captain, Elaina Ohlson, has had a total of 55 goals this season, followed by junior, Emily Hall and senior, Alyssa Dunlap. As a team, the girl’s have had a total of 273 goals this season, averaging 17 goals a game. They hope to continue their scoring averages throughout their postseason games.
