Brushwood, a captain and vocal leader of the team, always keeps a positive spirit and supports his teammates. “It has been an incredible honor to be a captain for this team. I have been playing this sport my entire life and to see the growth of the game at State High is something really special. It’s hard to think about how soon I’ll have to walk away from this program, but I hope that the impact I and the rest of our senior class has had will continue to show for years to come,” Brushwood said.

Alleged school shooting plan thwarted at State High, highlighting nationwide issue
Teachers, administrators and police officers help students use metal detectors placed at State High's back entrance. The school used two portable metal detectors before borrowing additional detectors from Penn State. On April 21, the school board announced the purchase of additional portable detectors.

On April 12, SCASD students and community members were made aware of a credible school shooting threat planned for State High. In turn, metal detectors in were in place at the high school from April 14 to April 21.
