I love being a part of the club.”

Do you enjoy singing and coming up with choreography? Are you looking for a new club to try? Glee Club could be the place for you.

Glee Club is a non-audition music ensemble that meets every Friday morning at 7:35 in the new choir room, G151.

“It is a musical ensemble that is for anyone who enjoys singing or dancing,” senior Sarah Ambrose, the current Glee Club president, said. “You don’t have to be involved in any other musical groups at State High. We sing pop music rather than traditional music, create choreography, and have a fun time while we do it.”

You might be wondering,: What should I expect at a Glee Club meeting? This year, the club will be singing “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey. Last year during its first year here at State High, the group performed the song, “Some Nights” by Fun.

“Towards the beginning you pick songs,” Katelyn James, a junior who joined Glee Club last year, said. “Then once you all decide on a song you get the music, learn it, practice, and then go over the choreography.”

At the next Glee Club meeting, members will get the music and start rehearsing for their performance in the Winter Pops Concert.

“I really love music a lot,” Ambrose said. “I’m in a lot of choirs at State High and outside of school, so I love the opportunity to be involved in another music group and to be able to sing pop music. That is something we don’t usually do in choir and that other people who aren’t involved in the music program can hear and get excited about.”

Everyone is welcome to attend the next Glee Club meeting this Friday the 27th and to come to the Winter Pops Concert this December. If you have any questions or would like to know more, feel free to email Glee Club president Sarah Ambrose at [email protected].
