On Mar. 27, 2023, the Bryce Jordan Center welcomed Australian artist The Kid Laroi. Since rising to fame, The Kid Laroi – a 19 year old singer-songwriter and rapper – has made his presence known around the world. After securing a spot on the Billboard Top 10 with hit song “Without You”, he received recognition from the Recording Academy, earning himself a Grammy Award nomination. On top of that, the Australian is a multi-platinum recording artist, making his trip to University Park one to remember.

After announcing his “BLEED FOR YOU” tour on Jan. 31, 2023, students at State High were full of anticipation. Expectations were met when he stepped into the Bryce Jordan Center.

State High senior Luis Otarola said that the concert was full of excitement, and definitely worth a late night out. Although every moment was memorable, Otarola said that, “being able to meet new people and see others with similar music taste was my favorite part of the concert.” Those interactions, along with die-hard Laroi fans screaming and jumping around, allowed for a concert experience like no other.

Lanie Herlocher, a State High sophomore, also experienced a night full of excitement in Happy Valley. “Going to the concert during the school year was a nice break from school life. It can get really repetitive between school and sports, so it’s nice to have a change,” she said. She added that the environment was energetic, allowing for an exhilarating concert.

Despite leaving Happy Valley shortly after the concert ended, The Kid Laroi left an impactful presence at the Bryce Jordan Center. The artist will continue to leave a mark on his first college tour across the country, holding concerts at venues as large as Coachella. As The Kid Laroi proceeds with the rest of his “BLEED FOR YOU” tour, State High students hope that his first visit to Happy Valley won’t be the last.
