Paris Bakery & Café is set to open its doors at 122 West College Ave in late April of 2026, bringing new pastries, breads and treats to downtown State College
The Parisian bakery, which first opened in 2024 at 335 Market Street in Lewisburg, PA, will open another location in State College. The pastry shop will be moving into the building of the former burger restaurant, BRGR, which closed in May of 2024.
The Lewisburg bakery has been popular with both Penn State students and Centre County residents. Owner and founder Mario Mabrouk hopes that opening in State College will expand the business.
“…we can’t wait to share [these pastries] with the Penn State community and all of State College. This location will be the largest and most exciting bakery yet,” Mabrouk wrote in a Facebook post.
He plans to introduce a menu with many of the same treats as the Lewisburg location, including macarons, cakes, tarts, and croissants. The new location will be much larger than the previous one. With extra kitchen space, Mabrouk hopes to expand the array of confections offered.
In an interview with Northcentral PA, Marbrouk said he plans to add Neapolitan pizza to the menu and hire a chef from Italy to make it.
“We don’t have anything at all in this area like this pizza,” he said.
Along with the new treats that will be added to the menu, the business will also begin offering merch. Prior to operating as a burger joint, the location of the soon-to-be bakery was a branch of Citizens Bank. Among the renovations to the building, an old bank vault will be converted into a gift shop where the merch will be sold.
Mabrouk plans to decorate the new location similarly to the Lewisburg one with pink walls, colorful florals, neon signs, and custom counters.
Local residents, Penn State students, and State High students alike are excited for the bakery’s opening and what it will bring to the town.
“I’m excited about the new types of foods…We don’t really have [specialty] bakeries. I think a store that just specialize[s] in bakery items would be really nice. I’m excited to try it,” freshman Sara Jabr said.
Freshman Liesel Perles Leclear shared a similar sentiment on how the bakery will contribute to State College.
“I’m excited to have a new bakery to try out at State College, and I think it’ll just bring a little bit of flavor and uniqueness to State College because we don’t really have [many French bakeries],” added Perles Leclear.
The bakery hopes to “bring a little piece of Paris to downtown State College,” Marbrouk posted on Facebook.
The Lions’ Digest reached out to Mario Mabrouk for comment, but did not receive a response.
