Senior Year Soundtrack: Class of 2025 Wrapped
“It kind of became popular on TikTok this year for a trend, and it’s also like more of a classic song. The vibes of the song are pretty like, not nostalgic, but in a sense, it’s like a more calm song that is more reflective, so it definitely brings about nostalgia and emotion when thinking about high school so far. “
— Grant McCormick
“I just love the song because it talks about, like, how much effort you put into something and you still haven’t found what you’re looking for. And I feel like I’ve put in a lot of work in high school, like both with academics, just working on myself. But, you know, high school’s not the end of my life. You know, I still have a lot to achieve and a lot to work for.”
— Alex Haskins
“I feel like it’s very growing up, it’s got that vibe, it sort of talks about moving away doing something new with your life and the change like that.”
— Harper House
“[This] was a song that I consistently listened to all year. It has a fun summer vibe to it, and it reminds me of when I was younger because we always listen to it in my family.”
— Audrey Shaner
“I listened to [‘About A Girl’] a lot when I went on the foreign exchange to Cuba with the Spanish department so it reminds me of that trip.”
–Augustus Nicholas
“It’s just a fun upbeat song.
I know the story behind it is just being ready for summer. Like, the whole song’s about being ready for summer. And I’ve had a lot of senioritis this year, so I’m ready.”
–Ivan Atwood IV
“I feel like I’ve really formed a connection throughout all my years of high school with nature and being outside. Particularly in my senior year, it’s been so important to get out and be outside. And I feel like all my favorite things take place outdoors. I also like the lyric ‘I’ve got some thinking to do’ because I think that also is a big part of connecting with nature this year has been, or in the past years of high school has been finding who I am as a person, outside of school. So I think that’s important.”
— Sophia Reutzel
“It just feels very relaxing and kind of nostalgic and she talks about growing up and becoming calmer as you age and I feel like that’s how I’ve looked at this year. I like when she says ‘everybody wants the best for you, but you’ve gotta want it for yourself.’”
— Stella Colocino
“I’m not, like, entirely sure what I want to go into. I know what I’m majoring in, but I I’m not sure if it’s gonna stay that way. It just kind of makes me think that it’s going to be okay, even if it seems really stressful and awful now. [My favorite lyric is] probably just.. ‘It’s alright, baby, it’s alright.’”
— Elena Schiano
