On Monday June 5th, State High girl’s track team held their annual banquet. The banquet celebrated the girls accomplishments throughout both the spring and winter season. There were many girls that broke school records, putting themselves on the famous “Top 15” list. The ceremony lasted over three hours but was filled with hilarious jokes and heart-wrenching senior speeches. Sophomore Denaya Poston said, “It’s always really cool to see what the seniors have to say about all their years doing track. It’s weird to think one day I’ll be up there saying the same things.” Bendik was on the track team last year and competes in sprinting events. She also runs for State High’s cross country team.

Delicious vegetarian lasagna and chicken was served. Lilly Riddle said, “The lasagna was so good. It was such a great option for all of the vegetarian people there.” Lilly earned a Junior Varsity letter and ended the session with 2 personal records in the 800 meter race. This was her first year competing on the track and field team.

The banquet was a great way for coaches and athletes to reminisce on their 2016-2017 season. The State College track program is known throughout Pennsylvania as being exceptionally phenomenal. But this year was esoecially memorable. The girl’s team won districts, placed at States, and won many events at prestigious invitationals. The senior class also had multiple athletes sign to play for excellent universities. The banquet was a treat well deserved for State College girls track and field team.
