My name is Emma Rockey and I am a senior. I enjoy reading, swimming, singing, hanging out with friends, and watching tv. I am interested in studying psychology or something in the liberal arts in college. I'm passionate about social justice and issues. I joined journalism because I am interested in working on the yearbook and newspaper.

Gabe Hernández, senior, is greeted by members of the audience while performing “Freedom” by Rage Against the Machine. Hernández shared that the song raises awareness for Native American Activist Leonard Peltier, who was charged with two consecutive life sentences for the deaths of two FBI agents after a shoot-out on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in 1975. “He [Hernández] was able to engage the audience and be like a rockstar,” said Frankie Dorman, junior.

Ambrose has swum all four years of her high school career. “It’s nice swimming my senior year because now there’s less pressure and I can now just enjoy my time swimming and enjoying my last year with the people on the team,” Ambrose said.

This song featured senior Caylee Thompson, and was popular among both the audience and students. “Hearing Caylee sing ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ was so good and she gave me chills,” junior Anna Farris said.

All choirs smile after receiving a look of pride from director Erik Clayton after their combined performance of “Ave Verum” by W.A. Mozart. This is a song that Clayton loves the choirs to perform together and they performed it at the dedication ceremony earlier this year. “Hearing the different dynamics with everyone on stage is so interesting and hearing so many people in the different parts was so cool,” Jaqueline Lawrence, sophomore, said.

Diversity and Activism Club brainstorms ideas and initiatives they would like to participate in this year. Last year, the club sponsored movie nights, open mic nights, a car wash, and voting registration for students. “We would like to do similar things this year, but we’d like to do much more. This includes a charity gala for the Trevor Project, which we are looking forward to,” said club president Sydnee Rockey.
