Hello, My name is Elly Haushalter and I am a sophomore here at State High. I have lived in State College ever since I was three. I love taking photos and I love graphic design. That is why I took journalism. I love reality T.V. and Hallmark movies. My favorite food is salmon and my favorite dessert is ice cream. If I was trapped on a deserted island and could only bring one food I would bring a poke bowl. I excited to see what this year brings to me in Journalism.

Ryan Domico, an 8th grader, Celebrates Cinco de Mayo at Moe’s Southwest Grill. The restaurant gave out free t-shirts. Kyle Domico, sophomore, said, “We had a ton of fun celebrating the holiday a Moe’s.”

Senior Rebecca Stroschein wears her World Down Syndrome day shirt. World Down Syndrome day takes place on the 22nd of March each year. “I decided to wear the shirt to help raise awareness for World Down Syndrome Day. Through Best Buddies, I have met so many incredible people with Down syndrome and I am so happy our club found a way to spread the word,” said Stroschein.

Around 300 students were in attendance for the memorial on March 14th. “I was not particularly surprised by the turnout considering how relevant of a topic it was,” sophomore Kyra Gines said.

The All-Star team poses with IMBA Commissioner, Joe Boris. The team was selected for the Seniors vs. Staff intramural basketball game. “Hands down, that man is a legend,” said senior Ava Michael, talking about Boris, adding, “I feel bad for the kids who have never met him!” The All-Star team included seniors Oliver Allen, Dylan Ballenger, Sam Brungo, Jake Hall, Madison Lambert, Ava Michael, Brett Olivett, Zach Pepper, Steven Plafcan, Nate Pritts, Garrett Schoonmaker, Esther Seeland, Noah Thies, and Matt Tomczuk. The coaches of the All-Star team were Jake Mikula, Tyler Simpson, and Shane McCandless.
